Why does my needle break al the time from my Newlong or Newlong Industrial NP-7A portable bag closer?

• The needle breaks often because of Pulling or Yanking the Bag. This is the most common issue on breakage of the needle: If the operator pulls the bag through the machine rather than letting the feed dogs drag it by thenselves, the needle flexes backward. On the downstroke, that bent needle hits the needle plate or looper and it breaks hitting other metal.

• Incorrect Needle Installation: The NP-7A uses DNx1 #25 (or size 200) needles. If the needle isn’t pushed all the way up into the socket (clamp) before tightening, it extends too low and strikes the looper underneath causing a bent, break or damage. This also affects the Looper sometimes. Replace both.

• Incorrect Needle Installation (2): The needle can be rotated in all directions. the scarf, the little indent on the machine needs to point upwards.

• Wrong Needle Model: Using standard household needles or incorrect commercial needles (like Fischbein D5 needles) will cause clearance issues meaning the wrong distance between the needle and the Looper. The Fischbein needles for example look very simular but are shorter then the ones needes for the Newlong np7a portables.

• Looper-to-Needle Timing out of Alignment: If a previous needle broke hard, it may have knocked the needle bar out of position. If the looper passes too close to the needle, it will strike and break every needle you install.
